CATHERINE LAWLESS

Catherine is a singer, songwriter with a heart. She describes her writing as her means of “escape”, a channel to take her anywhere she wants.

Catherine’s passion for music developed many moons ago. Struggling to express her feelings, she found music provided the perfect stage to channel them. She and her friends created CAT, a rock band in the nineties. CAT released their debut album “Best kept secrets” and toured extensively throughout Europe and the UK.

Following the break up of CAT, Catherine decided to develop her song writing skills. She too wanted to write songs that could resonate with others. Catherine was extremely fortunate to meet acclaimed singer-songwriter, Russ Ballard, and this heavily influenced her musical direction.She would sit beside Russ at his piano and listen in awe to his stories. He’d play the popular songs exactly how he had written them and she was captivated that the bones of each of Russ’s songs had been taken on their own unique journey to become the anthems that they had. (Since You’ve Been Gone, Meet Again to name but a few).

Catherine has found that music has been the best company she could ever have! She not only writes songs but has also written books and a musical.
