DOUGLAS MACINTYRE

Douglas MacIntyre has been writing and performing from the early 1980’s post-punk period to the present, from his first release with Article 58 through to albums released by his current project Port Sulphur (instrumental filmic tracks influenced by 1970s German kosmische groups). Port Sulphur provided the soundtrack for award-winning film director Grant McPhee’s ‘Beyond The Speed of Life’ film and achieved a number 1 position in the Scottish Charts with the ’Speed of Life’ album.

MacIntyre has also performed / written with a variety of artists including The Bathers, Future Pilot AKA, Quad 90, The Cowboy Mouth, Sexual Objects, James Grant/L&M, Jazzateers, The Bluebells, The Kingfishers, Lloyd Cole, The Secret Goldfish, Damo Suzuki, Sugartown, The Nectarine No.9.

MacIntyre set up independent audio / visual operation The Creeping Bent Organisation in 1994, releasing 100 products over the ensuing 30 years. In 2022 MacIntyre collaborated with Grant McPhee to write the Hungry Beat hard-back book (published by White Rabbit) which covered the Scottish post-punk period. The book was a critical and commercial success necessitating a paperback edition, with MacIntyre appearing at book festivals in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and London.
