GARY MOAT
Gary Moat is a drummer, songwriter and vocalist from Glasgow, Scotland. Moving from the drums in Heavy Pettin to frontman in Burnt Out Wreck, Gary has been in the spotlight since the 80s’. Burnt out Wreck was formed in 2016 and released their debut album, Swallow in 2017 after signing a deal with The Right Honourable Record Company via Cherry Red Records.
Moat is most famous for occupying the drum stool for hard rock band Heavy Pettin, formed in 1981 and whose name was taken from the 1976 UFO album No Heavy Petting. The band gigged heavily before singing with Polydor and releasing their debut album, 1983’s Lettin’ Loose, with Queen guitarist Brian May as co-producer. Following the release the band played several high profile supporting slots for Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss and Whitesnake. The band followed up with 1985’s Rock Ain’t Dead which contained their most famous track ‘Sole Survivor’ but between that and their last release, The Big Bang in 1989, the band entered a difficult period and eventually broke up.
