TULLY GUN
Turlough Gunawardhana (AKA Tully Gun) is a multi-instrumentalist, actor, dancer, songwriter, composer and producer.
At the age of 6, he began studying cello, piano and music theory in the Royal Irish Academy of Music. In 2002, he formed and managed The Chapters securing a record deal with 3ú records releasing their debut album Perfect Stranger. With The Chapters, he toured with acts such as Chuck Berry, Neil Young, Damien Rice, The Frames, Ok Go and Kelly Rowland. In 2010, Tully became a featured member of James Vincent McMorrow’s live band touring the US, Canada and Europe.
He has performed at a number of festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Bestival and the Montreaux Jazz Festival. He has also played on TV shows such as Jools Holland and opened for acts such as Arcade Fire, The Civil Wars and Joanna Newsom. Tully co-wrote The Coronas hit single ‘All The Others’ from their 4th studio album. The song received significant airplay on Irish radio, and reached No.1 in the Irish Singles Charts. The song was also nominated for the Choice Music Song of The year in 2015.
In 2016, Tully landed the role of Emcee in the Toni award winning musical “Once” which saw him perform 140 shows in Dublin’s Olympia theatre. He was also the assistant musical director. Tully has landed acting roles in AMC’s Into The Badlands (Season 3 Episode 3) and a Direct Line Insurance TV commercial with Harvey Keitel.
He is a lecturer in BIMM Dublin where he teaches song writing, music theory, music production and artist development from Diploma levels up to BA 4. He has also just received his Post Graduate for Teaching and Learning from the University of Sussex.
Tully is currently working with Dutch super producer Fabian Lenssen, who mixed and co wrote ‘Coldwater’ by Justin Bieber, and Major Lazer.
